Our 5th wedding anniversary gift advice is now updated and expanded. Only a couple of months after first producing the pages, we’ve been working our way through them again with improvements. The result, is a whole lot more specific information on the 5th anniversary gifts page.

All the anniversary year gift pages cover four main areas:

1) What the traditional 5th anniversary gift theme is and ideas for what specific gifts to give.

2) What the contemporary modern alternative is, because tradition (by its very nature) can be a bit archaic! Again, we spill the facts and follow up with more specific 5th anniversary gift suggestions.

3) Each of the first 15 anniversary years — and many besides — have specific flowers associated with them. We name the 5th anniversary flower and tell you all about it. (Note that you shouldn’t give a dozen red roses every anniversary!)

4) Like with flowers, jewellery has special customs for the first 15 anniversaries and we give you facts about these. Turquoise is the customary anniversary gemstone for the 5th and we tell you all about it’s mystical properties and the ancient beliefs and myths surrounding it. This makes a great story when you give your anniversary present!

We’ve beefed our page about 1st wedding anniversary gifts and giving. Loads of new information has been added. And, we’ve reformatted the whole page to make it more readable/ easily digestible.

New feature boxes have been added covering the first anniversary flower (pansies) and the customary gemstones for first anniversary jewellery. In both cases, pictures have been added for easy identification of the flower or gemstone.

Of course, just listing the flower or gemstone, doesn’t mean much. When you give a special gift it’s nice to give a reason why you chose that particular thing. By covering the symbolism and mythicism surrounding the flowers and gemstones, we give you that little story to tell. That little extra that makes it extra special.

Besides the new content, new formatting makes picking the key points of the previous information and ideas all the more easier. We hope you can get to the facts faster now!
